Banned!

100 Most Banned Books of 1990 through 1999

Laura (Colleen's daughter) brought home a list of 100 books. She told her mom that these are books that have been banned from her school. The list contains books that I couldn't for the life of me figure out why they were banned. Charlotte's Web, Winnie-the-Pooh, Schindler's List, The Color Purple... well, you get the idea. So I called the school. LOL

The librarian has no idea why the teacher would hand out this list. They have most of the books on the list, and encourage the kids to read them. We thought that maybe it was a list of the top 100 most banned books, but it isn't. He looked up some of the books in books he has that explain why some books have been banned, and most of them weren't even in there.

He recommended that Colleen talk to Laura and find out exactly what the teacher said, and have Colleen call him and let him know which teacher it is so he can find out what's up. (I wouldn't tell him her name.)
